INCINERATOR APPEAL
SUMMER 1995
The recent refusal for planning permission for the Bio Burn incineration company on Hanover Quay, Ringsend, to transfer to Pigeon House Road under to name Waste to Energy is not the end of the matter. The Dublin Bay Action Group is quick to point out that the fight has only just begun. They are adamant that the public support against the proposed incinerator must make practical responses at this crucial stage of proceedings. They need your help to fight the case. This can be financial, legal advice, letter writing or any assistance that can be of benefit to them in preparing and fighting the case against the building of an incinerator in our area. Chairman of the Dublin Action Bay Group, Patrick Donaghue, is at pains to point out that we are at a vital stage of the planning process. He says "Since planning permission has been turned down people have sent us congratulations and well done messages. While this is very heartening they have missed the point. It's all to play for and it is a David and Goliath situation. We are fighting on a shoe string." "People think it’s a Ringsend problem, but it will affect all of us and the City of Dublin as well, if they get permission." We know the goodwill is there but it is now make up your mind time. The simple gesture of writing a letter against the proposed incinerator can be highly persuasive. These can be presented at the planning appeal hearings. Please do not post them to the planning authority but drop them into Sandymount Community Services on 12 Seafort Avenue or Ringsend Community Centre on Thorncastle Street. It's a small gesture but a vital contribution. Your letter will be an integral part of the fight against an incinerator on your door step. The next stage of the appeal process will begin in a matter of weeks. For further information contact Dublin Bay Action Group. |
