Work is almost
complete on
the impressive
new Aviva Stadium at
Lansdowne Road.
The IRFU have confirmed
that the opening
fixture will take place on
Saturday, July 31st when a
combined Leinster/ Ulster
side will take on a Munster/
Connacht selection.
Commenting on the announcement,
IRFU Chief
Executive Philip Browne
said: “The game will see
involvement from both
Leinster and Ulster, the
sides who played the first
and last fixtures at the old
Lansdowne Road.”
The first soccer fixture
will be against Diego Maradona
ʼs Argentina on August
11th.
