ANDREW'S AMATSU HEALING
By Grace Charley

When our editor, asked me if I’d be interested in interviewing Andrew Doyle, an Amatsu Healer, pictured right, I jumped at the chance. I am a keen advocate of holistic healing.

Having being brought up on a daily spoonful of conventional medicine, my first introduction to holistics was when, as children, we where brought for ‘the cure’ of such ailments as whooping cough and psoriasis.

In the latter instance, it meant an old woman rubbing spittle into your irritable skin and a few prayers later, the cure was complete. Not a pleasant experience by any means, but we had absolute faith in it all the same.
For anyone who is not au fait with Amatsu medicine, let me explain. Amatsu derives from traditional Japanese medicine and is based on the principles of natural movement.

Take the cave man for example. His lifestyle was organically based around hunting, which meant a lot of walking and swimming. These exercises are ideal as they involve the natural movement of our body.

Think about it, our physical make-up is not really compatible with modern day living. An average health-conscious city dweller leaves his office desk, heads for the gym (where he proceeds to sit on a bicycle or rowing machine), drives home then sits in front of the TV. That’s a lot of sitting and crunching of organs.

Our ancestors were probably a lot healthier. Cutting grass with a scythe meant the body twisting itself into a natural state. When the body is properly aligned, organs and ligaments are released of tension, thereby restoring the normal flow of blood and lymph to promote growth, repair and restoration of normal function.

Even crossing your legs can create a misalignment within the body and when this happens the body becomes unbalanced. Carrying heavy bags can pull one side of the body out of sync, therefore causing tension and restriction of a muscle or organ.

Amatsu promotes the drinking of two litres of water daily. Many illnesses can be prevented if the body is kept hydrated. Toxin build-up in our bodies is due to many factors, stress, the environment, processed foods to name but a few. Drinking the recommended amount of water will flush out these toxins and help the body to restore itself.

THE TREATMENT
Amatsu treatment ultimately seeks to balance the body rather than simply treating the symptoms. Having said that, the treatment can alleviate and improve existing conditions like back and neck problems, circulatory problems, arthritis, digestive disorders and many other common ailments pertaining to the 21st century.

As with most holistic treatments, the Amatsu experience is gentle and non-invasive. On your first consultation, the practitioner will take details of your medical history and record any conditions you have currently. In a very relaxed and warm environment, they will test your muscle movements and check your alignment.

After discovering my pelvis was slightly out of line, it was then quickly and gently re-aligned. After this, the status of my organs (liver and pancreas) was checked. This treatment acts as a preventative to the onset of some of the more serious ailments like diabetes which, due to modern living, has become all too prevalent.

Post-treatment, some people may feel a change straight away. Some feel tired, others receive a great boost of energy. Immediately after treatment, I felt exhausted but the day after the initial treatment, I had boundless amounts of energy.

For anyone seeking to improve their overall health, I would highly recommend Amatsu Healing.
