THE EDITOR'S CORNER

A big thank you for your letters, contributions, photographs, poems and entries to the crossword. The interaction with our readers is so important to us and is the life blood of the paper. Also thanks to the boys who entered our Surfdock Competition and congratulations to the winners.

Stephanie introduced us to her friend Marcelo Biglia and we are delighted to reproduce some of his amazing photographs. Elsewhere we have running tips, holiday recommendations, book reviews and lots more.

The article about Carelocal a voluntary organisation which is doing great work to alleviate loneliness among the elderly is a reminder of how we can help. Working as a volunteer can be very rewarding as Audrey found out when she spoke to Jonny Hobson.

Michael MacAuliffe, who helps with Meals on Wheels, also came up with an interesting piece on this topic. Speaking of caring for and helping others reminds me of my good friend Sister Agnes Philomena, who is unwell at present and needs our prayers.

Should I apologise for the surfeit of local and national football coverage in this edition? No, I suppose not as it is bound to appeal to at least half of our readers!

See you next time (around the end of August) and enjoy the holidays.
