'WOMEN OF CONCERN'
AT THE GALERY OF PHOTOGRAPHY

By Christopher Sweeney

ʻWomen of Concernʼ is an exhibition of photographs to celebrate
International Womenʼs Day. The opening will take place
on Wednesday 3rd March at 6pm in the Gallery of Photography,
Temple Bar in Dublin 2.

Three Irish women, all renowned photographers, have travelled
around the world, capturing on fi lm the lives of women
from Haiti, Ethiopia and Bangladesh. Their stunning photographs
show the strength and perseverance of women living in
desperate situations, from the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake
to Ethiopia and streets of Dhaka in Bangladesh. They also show
how, with your support, Concern is working with these women
to improve their lives and the lives of their families and communities.

The photographers taking part are Brenda Fitzsimons of
the Irish Times, Marie McCallan and, excitingly for us, Kim
Haughton, who worked as a photographer for NewsFour many
moons ago and took this photo, ʻFarming in Ethiopiaʼ.
