Well, hello everyone and welcome
to the first edition of 2010. Sorry
we are a couple of weeks later
than usual but we moved premises in January
and that took up a lot of our time.
We have moved from 15 Fitzwilliam
Street to over the dry cleaners at 7 Bridge
Street, not much of a move you might say,
but try carrying a photocopier up a spiral
staircase!
Advertisers and subscribers please note
our change of address.
Many thanks to all of you aspiring writers
who sent in entries for the short story competition.
Aisling Flood, a published author
and freelance editor, kindly agreed to judge
the competition for us.
According to Aisling, the standard of entries
was excellent, and she had a hard task
deciding on the top three. Congratulations
to Caoimhe Fox whose story, ʻNot Working
Togetherʼ Aisling praised for its “simple,
tight structure” and its “great description of
the unsaid between families.” Commiserations
to Jennifer Betts and Christy Hogan,
both of whose works Aisling also singled
out for particular praise. We will find space
for their entries in later issues.
