COMMUNITY HOUSING PROJECT A SUCCESS

A sense of community is created by the interaction of people who work and live together for the betterment of their community. Affordable housing is an integral part of a community staying alive. This is particularly true for Ringsend where property prices have soared in recent times.

The recent launch of nineteen houses and four apartments beside St. Brendans Cottages by Eoin Ryan T.D. who was substituting for Ruairi Quinn T.D. who was attending the late Jim Kemmys funeral, brought the total number of Social housing units built in Ringsend with the generous help of Zoe Developments to forty eight.

The Ringsend Action Project with the driving force of Charlie Murphy and Joe Grennel are doing their best to see that the local people are getting an opportunity to build a secure future in their own locality. The support of Zoe Developments is the key factor in seeing that this is achieved. Their goodwill in building the units at cost has made sure that the project is financially viable for people on the Dublin Corporation Housing list.

It is appropriate that the new development is called after the late Sean Kennedy who made a valuable contribution to the community of Ringsend in his day.
