SEÁN MOORE AWARDS 1997

The Clanna Gael clubhouse once again played host to the "Community Oscars" as this years Seán Moore awards were presented to ten worthy winners. This years awards attracted over fifty nominations, the largest ever in the history of the event.

The 1997 awards were presented to the winners amid an evening of celebration and song all conducted by the maestro M.C. for the evening, Sandymount pharmacist, Michael McAuliffe.
One by one the results were revealed and each recipient approached the stage in shock to collect their engraved trophy presented by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr John Stafford.

In his address Mr Stafford praised the organising committee for all their excellent work and he also spoke of the true sense of community within our area.

Sponsored by Bord Gais, there have been six award ceremonies since their inception in the Dublin Millennium year of 1988.

They have become the ideal way for organisations and the community at large to reward the hard work done by so many people in the communities of Dublin 2, 4 and 6. Founding Hon. Secretary of the awards, Councillor Dermot Lacey sees the awards continuing for many years to come. He said "that there were a record number of entries this year which was only to be expected from the many vibrant community ventures in our area".
