Green Schools Project.
Star of the Sea boys have worked very hard on the Green Schools project. Over
the past few years they have organized the recycling of paper, inkjets, cans,
tetra pac and bus tickets in the school. As a result we have reduced our
'black bag' waste by 50%.
The boys have informed their parents/guardians and the wider community of
their various projects and they are constantly working on new schemes in
order to keep Star of the Sea a 'green' school. Star of the Sea received a
Green Flag at the Green Schools National Award Ceremony on Thursday 25th
March.
Billy Write
Billy Write had a nice red kite
He played with it day and night
He played with it in the park
He even played with it in the dark
One day when Billy Write was playing with his kite
It flew over a wall
Where a big dog ripped it all
Billy Write went to his Dad with a tear
Billy's Dad said look here
Tomorrow I'll buy you a new red kite
And you can play with it day and night.

Croke Park Joy
It was the happiest day of my life. We beat St Damien's in the semi final of
the Miller Shield. We trained for a week straight after school every day. We
had a break for two days until Wednesday the big day the final of the shield.
We travelled in a mini bus to Croke Park. We were too early so we decided to
go on a tour of the museum. The tour was great and we were just on time to
get changed. We were surprised when we came into the changing room we saw new
jerseys, new shorts, new socks, track bottoms and a track jacket, all with
the school crest.
We had a little warm up and then we went out and won. The score was 6-12 to
3-9. We went back to school and got a warm reception. Then we went to the
Jury's Hotel and got a four course meal then the presentation started the
shield was silver and the medals were gold, silver and bronze. We got the
shield and the medals. Our managers were so proud of us.

Irishtown
There was a small place called Irishtown,
A man lived there who could not frown.
He worked in a school,
He was a big fool
In the end he became a clown.

Lion Lion
Lion Lion what have you done?
You've eaten your mummy who cooks the buns
The frogs that croak
The snake that hisses.
Where will you go
For your hugs and kisses?

My Family
I feel my family is the best
They care for me.
They are my Mum my Dad and my sister.
The good thing is they give me something to look forward to when I go home.
They are so cool I wouldn't like anyone else.

My Happiest Sporting Memory
My happiest sporting memory was when my cousins Aidan, Alan and Ciaran and my
friend Conor and I won a five a side cup. The name of the cup was the Paul
Largan cup. It was the hardest cup ever, There were teams from Mayo, Armagh, Louth and Limerick. It started with sixty-four teams
and ended up with one, the champs. The goal was scored in the last minute
with a rebound from a penalty, It came back to me and I fired it in the goal.
The highest goalscorers were a boy called Kevin and I with forty-seven goals.
The formation was (keeper) Aidan, (defenders) Alan and Ciaran, (midfield)
Conor and (forward) me as well as captain.

My House Cat
I have a little cat
He's getting very fat
He lays around my flat
Sitting on my mat
He jumps up on my lap
I give him a little slap
He purrs at the birds as they flap
He does little tricks when I clap

My Lovely Room
The room on the top floor is just my room
I always lock the door just in case my brother comes in
My room is nice and big
It's just for me.
My room has lots of posters of Lord of the Rings,
The Simpsons and some football posters.
My room is always there for me
When I need to get away from the family,
Watch TV, listen to music.
My room is always there
It's just for me

Ringsend
I know a person from Ringsend,
A very big letter he did send,
It had nothing in it,
The receiver did bin it,
What a waste, he thought in the end.

What a lazy slob.

At least he's happier living there than here

The Sport of Hurling
I love the sport of hurling.
If you want to play hurling and be good at it, D J Carey's the best hurling
player in the world, says you have to practise every day. He says you have to
practise blocking the ball, hitting the ball, hooking the ball, stopping the
ball and scoring goals and points.
Some of the goalkeepers are Damien Fitzhenry, Donal îg Cusack, Davy
Fitzgerald and James McGarry. The best outfield players are Henry Sheflin, DJ
Carey, Thomas Dunne, Ollie Canning and the player that lived but he is now
dead Christy Ring.

Baron Skumvit
My heart began to beat faster as I turned the key in the lock. There were
people inside I was sure of it. There were crashes, bangs and the occasional
scream .I opened the door .I couldn't believe what I saw two men were
fighting .They were using the kitchen knives as weapons. They were cut in
many places yet none sustained fatal wounds. I edged around them.
Suddenly one of them spotted me so I backed into a comer. I now realised why
they were fighting. It was all for show. They wanted somebody to come in and
then the person that came in would be killed!!
I recalled seeing one of the faces somewhere but I wasn't sure where. Then I
figured out where I saw the face. I saw it in a newspaper. His name was Baron
Skumvit, the most wanted criminal in the entire country!! I managed to get
out of the corner. Then I just ran. I didn't know where I was. I just heard
noises and went to investigate.
A knife whizzed past my ear and fell to the ground. I picked it up and threw
it backwards. It hit a lamp which hit the other man I didn't know. He fell
backwards, hit his head and fell unconscious. I decided to do what he least
expected, I charged!!! I knocked him over and picked up the knife that the
other man dropped. I threw it at Baron Skumvit. It hit his chest and buried
itself deep inside his flesh. I ran out knowing that I would never visit that
house again.
