ENABLE IRELAND 'ACCESS ALL AREAS'

Three year old twins Paddy and Ben Cuneen and brother Max, six, above, tried out the ‘Play for All’ facilities in Cabinteely Park, South County Dublin today to launch Enable Ireland’s Action Week on Disability 2008 which takes place from 15th to 20th September. Paddy attends Enable Ireland’s services in Sandymount, Dublin 4.

The boys’ mother, Lisa, said, “We’re delighted to support Action Week 2008. As Paddy attends the Sandymount Centre, Enable Ireland is a big part of our family life so we’re more than happy to come out today and encourage people to buy a Gold Badge to raise money for Enable Ireland’s services.”

The theme of the week is Access All Areas and aims to promote access for people with disabilities to all areas of life, from social and leisure activities, education and employment to infrastructure and buildings. During Action Week supporters can buy a Gold Badge to raise valuable funds to help take action on disability.

Dorothy Barry, Retail & Fundraising Director with Enable Ireland said, “We’re really excited about this years’ Action Week on Disability. We promote independence, choice and inclusion for people with disabilities and this park is a positive example of an intelligently designed area that is accessible to children of all abilities. The boys, Paddy, Ben and Max, really enjoyed their morning here.”

Enable Ireland are currently looking for volunteers to sell Gold Badges and organise fundraising events in their local community to support Action Week and take action on disability. Call Sarah on 01 2615921 or email eastfr@enableireland.ie
